SANCTIMONY

My school (OAU) is currently on a compulsory 'mid-semester break', very funny . We don't know who to trust of the two opposing parties. Reminiscing on this situation reminds me that OAU as an institution is a microcosm of the country itself. Then I wrote this poem to express my feeling. My country inspired its writing, but my school inspired my posting it. You'll see my country clearly in this piece, though subliminally my school shines through. ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sanctimony

Those Leading the most populous black nation have no shame,
this shameless state belies the hype and the fame,
did I hear giant of Africa?
riding air waves,nothing but sarcastical.

We can not help but to notice our abysmal state,
universities locked students on the street,
we've been here before and we really hope for repeat.

Corruption growing at a very sorry rate,
like trophies and crowns your glory has gathered dust
,
wailing for you the most populous black nation.

Butchers in the parliament,
thieves in lecture rooms,
robbers in a certain colored uniform,
sanctimonious leaders how would YOU ever show way to GOD?

Where at the sovereign rulers,
what are they up to, I mean the philosophers,
tell me where to find the men in black, the pastors and imams,
they are all where they ought not to be eating fattened  'rams'.
